7up America's Turning 7up / United States Set

Description of cans:

Made in 1976 by 7up.  Each can is numbered 1 through 50 (each state in alphabetical order), and when you stack them together, they make a picture of the United States.

Each can has information about each state.  And the background color (Green or white) is what actually makes up the picture of the United States.

This is a VERY VERY cool set.  I wish somebody would make things like this today for us can collectors.

FOR SERIOUS COLLECTORS:

I have found a few variation of the different cans that make up this set.  They mostly have to do with where the can was made.

1. Alum can with stay on tab - Horizontal UPC - no seal

2. Steel can with stay on tab - vertical UPC - painted seal

3. Steel can with pull off tab - vertical UPC - visible seal

Different "Versions" I have found.  They mostly differ from where they were made:

2. St Louis, MO - Alum can - Horizontal UPC - Stay-on tab - P.D.L. & D.O.P. - no seal

3. Minneapolis, MN - Steel can - Vertical UPC - Stay on tab - Inst. - painted seal

4. Oshkosh, WI - Steel can - Vertical UPC - Stay on tab - S.O.T. - Painted seal

5. Chicago, IL - Steel can - Vertical UPC - Stay on tab - S.O.T. - Painted seal

6. St. Louis, MO - Steel can - Vertical UPC - Stay on tab - Inst. - Visible seal

7. Columbus, OH - Steel can - Vertical UPC - Pull off tab - P.D.L. & D.O.P. - Visible seal

• P.D.L = Please Don't Litter (on lid)

• D.O.P. = Dispose of Properly (on lid)

• Inst. = Instructions for stay on lid (on lid)

• S.O.T. = Stay On Tab (on lid)
